Drawing of an oak tree: Beginners Guide

Drawing of an Oak Tree

The image of oak has accompanied us since childhood. In all fairy tales, he acts as a tree of wisdom and strength. And also, he is often found in a variety of paintings by famous artists. Today we will learn how to draw an oak so that it turns out to be as big and powerful as from the tales of Alexander Pushkin.

Necessary materials

  • Paper, A4 format. You can choose any paper - for printing, sketching, or corrugated.
  • Simple pencil. For the drawing to be neat, the pencil must be well sharpened.
  • eraser

Such a modest set is necessary for drawing an oak tree. The most important thing is patience because today, we will be analyzing a detailed and realistic image of an oak.

How to draw a green oak near the sea

Before you start working on the oak, we advise you to study the photos of this tree. Analyze the photo. This will help you identify the basic patterns - the oak is a large tree with a large wide crown. The crown has an oval shape.

Remember that we always sketch with the hardest pencil, with neat thin lines, which will be erased with an eraser if necessary.

We start as always with simple shapes. We do not draw small details because the tree's construction may be broken at the moment of detailed drawing.

Remember these rules, and now we can get to work.

Stage 1

This step is optional. But if you are starting to draw, we advise you to mark out a sheet of paper. This will help position the oak compositionally correctly so that there is no extra free space on the paper. Such compositional mistakes spoil the appearance of the work, and even educational sketches must be performed in accordance with all the rules.

Stage 2

Let's start with simple shapes. In understanding how to draw an oak tree, it is important to see the tree's shape. The trunk is designated for the time being by a simple line - this is conventionally our central axis. The crown has the shape of a complex polygon - the upper part of the crown looks like a trapezoid, the lower one is like a rectangle.

Stage 3

After that, we can refine the forms. The trunk of the oak is wide. In nature, there are no straight lines, so the trunk must have a bend. The bend of the trunk can be set arbitrarily at will.

Soften the corners of the crown. We outline the volume with uneven protrusions. It is important not to make them semicircular or oval. This process of drawing an oak tree will make the drawing look like a child's.

Inside the tree, we can immediately outline the shadow places.

Stage 4

At this stage, you can already move on to the shadow drawing. We fill in the main shadow areas. If necessary, the strokes can be made rounded. This will help to give shape and volume to the oak already at the stage of shading. We designate shadows on the entire surface of the crown, thus showing the foliage, which is hidden from the sun.

Stage 5

The last stage is finishing. Before this stage, it is better to take a break from the drawing to see all the shortcomings and inaccuracies. We fix the mistakes that we noticed, darken the areas in the necessary places, add details, twigs, and small leaves. Remove the extra construction lines with an eraser.

The fairy tale oak is ready, and now you can safely draw this tree in your landscapes.
